We Love Local!

Our family loves to support local businesses here in the North and this past week a couple of things happened that reminded me of that and so I thought I'd share ...
- The other day I ran into our local printing and stationery store here to grab ink for my printer. They had it as they always do and I mentioned how grateful I was to be able to get it right in town when I need it. That's when they told me that I am the only one who purchases that specific ink. They stock those cartridges just for me! I was blown away. Not only do they know my name and which ink I buy, they take note of when I pick it up and re-order right away so that it will be there when I need it next time. To me that's amazing customer service and not something you're going to get from any big box store! Thank you Countrywide Printing!
- Rick had an appointment in PG the other day so we jumped into the Toyota and hit the road and on our way we made plans to check out a couple local PG businesses we wanted to try. When Rick was on his way out after the appointment, the receptionist, who knows we're from out of town asked if we were excited to hit Costco and Walmart before we headed home. Rick just laughed and explained that we don't shop at Costco and Walmart. Since we're a local business dependant upon the support of local families, our goal is to source everything we need from other local businesses and support our own economy instead of sending our $ out of the country. Every time we go somewhere we try to find places that are off the beaten path, owned by local people who are passionate about what they do and excited to share it with you. Acting on this simple change of paradigm has brought us to some of the most interesting places, where we've met the most amazing people and come away with great stories. (Sometime maybe I'll share the story about how we got invited to join a commune!) lol
