Why is buying in bulk a better deal than buying retail cuts?

Buying in bulk is always the best value for your dollar!  This is because you get all of your cuts for the same LOW price.  That means that your Bacon, Tenderloins and Hams costs the same as your Ground Pork!  That's a sweet deal baby!

Also, BIGGER volumes mean better pricing.  The bigger your order the bigger your savings!  You can always get together with friends or family to take advantage of the volume discounts.

How much meat will I get?

How much freezer space will I need?

How long will this amount of meat last for me/my family?

All great questions ... that's why I created this handy dandy chart to answer them! 😊

When will my meat be ready?

Once you place your order we will be in touch to give you an approximate harvest & delivery date.  Harvest dates are booked by 6S a year in advance but due to staffing complications at the abattoir and the butcher, sometimes these dates are bumped.  Unfortunately we have no control over this situation and it sometimes means we have to delay harvest & delivery for some customers.  If this happens we will inform you as soon as we know and supply you with a new estimated harvest/delivery date.

How far in advance should I place my Custom Pork order?

We recommend reserving yours as early as possible.  We operate on a first come, first served basis so you'll want to speak for yours asap so you don't miss out!

What cuts do I get when I buy in bulk?

When you purchase a Custom Cut Side or Whole Pork you get your meat cut to your exact specifications.  Below is our Pork Cutting Instructions Sheet to show you which cuts you can choose from each area of the animal.  You also get to choose your chop thickness, package sizing, roast size, etc.

The quantity of each cut will vary due to the weight of the animal, the chop thickness you select and the size of roasts you select.

Can I split a Custom Cut Pork order with family or friends?

For sure!  However the cuts, chop thickness, size of roasts, and packaging sizes cannot vary between the order parties for a Half or Whole Pork order.

How do I pay for my pork?

We accept cash and e-transfer as payment.

How much will it cost?

Your pork will be billed on the hot hanging weight of the animal following harvest.  The average hot hanging weight of a pork is 90-110lbs per side.  When you purchase bulk pork you have four costs: the pork, the processing (cutting & wrapping), the curing and the sausage making.  Your pork will be billed as follows:

Half Pork $5.50/lb + $1.20/lb
processing + curing & sausage making costs (these two costs will vary depending on your choices)

Whole Pork $5.00/lb + $1.20/lb
processing + curing & sausage making costs (these two costs will vary depending on your choices)

When you reserve your pork you will pay an upfront deposit.  ($300 for a Half Pork,  $600 for a Whole Pork)  Your pork will only be reserved for you once the deposit has been received.

The balance of your order will be due at delivery.  Final costs will vary as they are dependent upon the hanging weight of your animal and the cuts you choose.  Typically you can expect a Half Pork to range from $625-$850.  And a Whole Pork to range from $1400-$1600.

*Prices are subject to change without notice.

How do I get my Custom Pork Order?

If you live within one of our delivery zones, delivery of your pork to a central location in your community is at no charge.  If you do not live within one of our delivery zones but would still like to purchase pork from us you can certainly do so.  In this case you will be responsible for picking up your order or arranging delivery to your location at your cost.  Once the order is ready, prompt pick up will be required as we do not have copious amounts of storage space.
